Wooly Flowers, Tonsils & A Bucket Of Chicken

After my mammoth loss of 4lbs last week, I resolved to work hard to not go backwards and gain.

I knew this was a possibility for two reasons:

1) after a large loss, I’ve always gained the next week

2) I’ve dropped a point in my daily allowance, and always struggle a bit the week that happens.

I had a great week, until Wednesday.

I spent the whole week knitting a flower arrangement.

Yes, I knitted a flower arrangement.

I’ve not gone mad, there was a reason!

My church was celebrating 164 years of junior/family church with a pudding & flower festival. The theme for the flowers was The Creation Story.

I haven’t a clue about flower arranging, so as knitting is something I’ve been teaching myself I chose to ‘Create’ my own flowers. (do you see what I did there?….. I’ll get my coat)

This was the finished result:

I’m rather pleased with them, and have had some lovely comments from my friends at church.

So, back to Wednesday. I got home from work about 5.30 pm. My daughter was complaining about shoulder pain, so I started having a little feel around when she burst out crying – all her glands were up. I checked her throat and could plainly see her tonsils were inflamed.

We were at the GPs by 6.15, who prescribed antibiotics & a day off school.

So, I was back at work by 7.15, collecting my current project so I could work from home the next day.

By the time I’d picked up the prescription, it was 8pm. At which point I drove to KFC & ordered a bucket for tea.

It was delicious. Greasy, naughty, and wonderful. But I couldn’t finish it all.

Inevitably, this had an impact when I got on the scales on Friday, when I put 1lb on.

I can live with that! I’m on this path for the long haul, and know that some weeks aren’t going to be by the book – that’s not real life.

Till next week! Wish me luck!

Ps. Daughter is much better & back at school.

One Wedding, One Week, Four Pounds

What a week!

After my weigh in last week, I spent the rest of the morning packing for a trip down South for a family wedding.

After hubby got home, we changed into smart clothes to spend an hour at our friends’ adoption celebration, then hit the road to Guildford. The traffic was appalling, and after a few A road detours and a stop for Burger King tea (yes I know – naughty) we arrived at the hotel & met my parents.

The next day, we had lots of time, as the wedding wasn’t till 4pm, so we walked over to the Guildford Spectrum leisure centre. – a fantastic facility, with ice skating, 10 pin bowling, soft play and swimming – both a proper pool and a leisure pool.

We took the children to the leisure pool – there’s three awesome slides (do I’m told – I’m a total coward!); waves; jacuzzi; splash pools; fountains and a small pirate ship with loads of little slides and shallow pools for the toddlers. We had a brilliant time!

After getting ready for the wedding, we were off!

The party was great – instead of favours there was a pick & mix stand, and instead of a disco – a juke box!

Everyone had a great time! And lots of family who I haven’t seen for a whole said done lovely things about my weightloss.

We got home at lunch time on Sunday. My daughter was very poorly all Sunday night, so we both stayed home on Monday to recover.

For the rest of the week, I’ve been working from home as we’ve had some work done in one of our bathrooms & the kitchen following a cistern leak at Easter.

So I’ve been extra careful this week, conscious I had a gain last week and been away again.

And it paid off! I lost 4lbs, taking my total to 26.5lbs over 24 weeks.

My next goal of 28lbs (2 stone) is only 1.5lbs away!

To say I’m grinning like a Cheshire Cat would be an understatement!

Up, Down & All Round!

Oops! Skipped a week in my diary.

In my defence, I normally update my healthy eating diary after my weigh in whilst waiting for the meeting to start. But I’ve started making friends, and even in the digital age, I think it’s rude to blog and chat at the same time!

And if I can’t write at the meeting, I normally catch up in the afternoon, but last Friday I was packing for a long weekend away in Dorset for the bank holiday.

It’s been a mad couple of weeks.

Friday to Tuesday, in Dorset with my in-laws, was lovely. The weather was warm& dry and we made it to the beach a couple of times, and had some great walks.

What made last week even more special, was I lost 3.5lbs! This meant I hit my target of 10% overall weightloss earlier than I expected!

Having said that, I knew being away and it being half term, that this week was not going to be great – a combination of having to guess food values when someone else cooks; too much wine & vodka; and a lack of routine.

So when this week, the scales showed a 2lb gain, I wasn’t surprised or overly disappointed.

It was expected and I know it’ll come off again.

Plus looking at the bigger picture, since January, I’ve lost 22.5lbs which I’m delighted with!

We’re away at a family wedding this weekend, so what will be will be. I’ll worry about what I can control and be super focused.

So wish me luck, and I leave you with a picture of our jubilee cake!
